WHITE WEDDING

Directed by Jann Turner

South Africa, 2009 , 93 min.

Elvis and his best friend and best man Tumi are headed from Johannesburg to Cape Town, where Elvis is due to marry his lovely fiancée, Ayanda. They have planned a “white wedding,” meaning modern and Western, at an upscale hotel, and of course including a white dress for Ayanda. Between the young couple and the realization of this dream wedding lie many miles of screw-ups, miscommunications, a British tourist named Rose, the preference of Ayanda’s mother for a traditional township wedding, and second thoughts. South Africa’s nominee for last year’s Best Foreign Film Oscar, White Wedding takes us on a delightful, eye-opening road trip through contemporary South Africa.

In Zulu, Xhosa, Afrikaans, and English with English subtitles.
