In Saint Louis Blues, seven passengers journey in a shared taxi from Dakar, Senegal’s capital city, to Saint Louis, 200 miles to the north. Nothing too unusual there. But what is unusual is that Ms. Gaye has chosen to tell this story in the form of a 1950s or 1960s French musical (think Umbrellas of Cherbourg)!
