Yearning for her own death after the loss of her son, 80-year-old Mantoa puts her affairs in order and makes arrangements to be buried in the local cemetery. Her plans change with the news that officials intend to build a dam for a reservoir that will flood the village, church and cemetery in the process. Mantoa finds a new will to live, resolving to defend the community’s physical and spiritual heritage against the inevitable march of progress. Winner of the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award for Visionary Filmmaking at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.
