Political activist Boniface “Softie” Mwangi is an outspoken news photographer, who quits his job to go on tour with his photographs of the 2007 election that were deemed too violent to be published in the newspapers. He then decides to run for office in a regional Kenyan election, which puts pressure on his young family and his convictions. This insider’s story reveals the personal sacrifices that Boniface and his wife Njeri make in order to survive death threats, brutality and violence. Against all these odds, Boniface remains undaunted. His childhood nickname “Softie” belies the strength and courage it takes to run in opposition to the entrenched, powerful political dynasties that control Kenya.
In English, Swahili and Kikuyu with English subtitles. (graphic violence)
