Hero is a rich historical drama based on the life and times of Ulric Cross (1917-2013), a West Indian man born in Trinidad who was a World War II hero and a lawyer who worked with African leaders and strategists during the African independence movements sweeping the continent in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The film brings back to life this important period of history and highlights the little-known contributions that Ulric Cross and his fellow West Indians made to it.
