This extraordinarily moving and powerful documentary is about the survivors who were maimed and mutilated in the Six-Day War in Kisangani in the Eastern DRC in June 2000. At the time, the Eastern Congo was under the control of rebels sponsored by Rwanda and Uganda. The Six-Day War was waged between these two foreign governments in Kisangani for control of the city. During the war, 6,600 bombs were dropped on the people of Kisangani. In the aftermath Uganda was ordered to pay $6 billion in compensation to the DRC, with $1 million designated for the victims of the war. The documentary picks up the story in Kisangani 18 years later, in 2018. The war victims have received no compensation and decide to travel to the capital city Kinshasa to make their case before their elected government representatives. The film documents their epic journey down the Congo River to Kinshasa and the protests they hold in front of the National Assembly when no one will meet with them. Scenes from their staged theatrical performances are interspersed in the film and show how they tell their own story onstage and keep their case before the public.
