No Simple Way Home
Directed by Akuol de Mabior
2022, 83 min
Rare and deeply personal, this film is a reflective insider’s story of a family who were founding members of a new country. Rebecca Nyandeng de Mabior, “the mother of South Sudan” and widow of John Garang de Mabior, South Sudan’s first vice president, returns from exile to carry on the work of her late husband, while her two daughters, Nyankuir and Akuolde, struggle with what it means to call South Sudan home and where they fit in. No Simple Way Home is the first film from South Sudan, Africa’s newest nation, to be shown at CFAF.
In English, Arabic and Dinka with English subtitles.
All films are free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.
