This powerful drama is about long-suppressed trauma and its effects on the lives of those who experience it. Years after a traumatic event in DRC, Amani and his mother Riziki are finally reunited in Belgium, where Riziki lives with her second husband Raphaël. Amani harbors deep anger at his mother’s abandonment, while Riziki is overcome with guilt and shame, making reconciliation between the two extremely difficult. Only with time, patience, perseverance, and knowledge of the truth of what happened that fateful night are mother and son able to repair their relationship.
