2016 Festival Highlights

  • Opening Night film The Rooftops directed by Algeria’s foremost film director, Merzak Allouache, on Friday, February 5, at 6:00 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. at the Hollywood Theatre, 4122 N.E. Sandy Blvd. Mr. Allouache will introduce and discuss his film at both screenings.
  • 18 outstanding feature, documentary and short films from 11 African countries: Algeria, Morocco, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Sudan, and Ethiopia.
  • This year the Thursday Evening Documentary Film Series showcases documentaries that investigate how music and the performing arts can be a powerful force for social change and cultural expression in times of both war and peace.
