Festival Highlights

  • Opening Night film, Akounak Tedalat Taha Tazoughai/Rain the Color Blue With a Little Red In It, is a homage to Prince’s Purple Rain and is the first narrative feature in the Tuareg language, Tamashek. Portland film director Christopher Kirkley and musician/actor Mdou Moctar from Niger will both be present to discuss the film at the Hollywood Theatre on Friday, February 3, after the 6:30pm and 9:15pm screenings and will perform in concert at 11:15pm.
  • We are pleased to present two staged readings of new plays by African writers in collaboration with Boom Arts’ Global Voices: International Play series. Fishers of Hope/Tawaret (South Africa) and Onions Make Us Cry (Nigeria) will be presented with talk backs after each play on Saturday, February 11, at 3pm and 4pm, respectively, in Moriarty Arts & Humanities Building, Room 104, PCC Cascade.
  • Join us each Saturday at 5:30pm for a Saturday Social Hour before the evening feature! Meet up with friends to enjoy food, live music and an extended African Marketplace in the lobby of Moriarty A&H Building on the PCC Cascade Campus.
