Lessons of Basketball and War is a documentary by local filmmaker Ron Bourke that chronicles a year in the life of a group of Somali Muslim, Somali Bantu, and Ethiopian girls as they adapt to Portland’s Hosford Middle School. The film shows how educators are working with these students to help them succeed and thrive in their new home. In English. Director Ron Bourke and other special guests will join us to discuss the film.
