Thursday Evening Documentary Film Series
This documentary offers a searing look at the role of American evangelical missionaries in the persecution of gay Africans. The film traces how American groups like the Missouri-based International House of Prayer have been sending missionaries into Uganda, preaching a highly conservative and highly controversial religious doctrine. The film tracks American influences that lead to the infamous Ugandan anti-homosexuality legislation that provides for the execution of gays and lesbians. Presenting the views of religious leaders both for and against these anti-gay efforts, God Loves Uganda takes a hard look at religious fervor, unquestioning obedience, and the uses and abuses of God in politics.
In English and Luganda with English subtitles.
