Women Filmmakers Week

In this first film from Libya to be shown at CFAF, Director Arebi follows the lives of three Libyan women soccer players through three major time periods. For the team’s first 10 years, they were not allowed to play any matches. They finally played their first match in 2012, soon after the revolution that brought about the death of Colonel Muamma Qu’daffi. This opened up a new hopeful period for women and their sport, and for the country. Arebi returns in 2014, where the promise has evaporated, and ISIS, the terrorist organization, has established its presence in Libya. In 2016, she returns again to find that despite the revolution’s failure, there is still a commitment to the game and to young women in the country.

In Arabic with English subtitles.
