In Fatwa, the year is 2013, the aftermath of the Jasmine Revolution where freedom of speech is heralded and extreme Islamist beliefs are allowed to flourish. Brahim Nadhour, a Tunisian man living in France, returns to Tunis for the first time in many years, following the death of his son Marwan in a motorcycle accident. As he searches to understand his son’s radical Islamic inclinations, he witnesses the changes in Tunisia, and gradually realizes that perhaps his son’s death was not an accident.
