These films explore identity, migration, resilience, memory, and belonging\u2014centering women\u2019s lived experiences with depth and nuance.<\/p>\n<p>From documentary to narrative cinema, the week amplifies voices that challenge systems, honor interior worlds, and reframe the global cinematic landscape through women\u2019s perspectives.<\/p>\n<p>Featured films include works from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africanfilmfestival.org\/files\/2023\/12\/senegal.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Senegal<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africanfilmfestival.org\/files\/2023\/12\/south-africa.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">South Africa<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africanfilmfestival.org\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/2132\/files\/2026\/01\/CFAF-Cape-Verde.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cape Verde<\/a>, culminating in a closing night celebration led by a woman filmmaker.<\/p>\n<p><\/div><\/p>\n<p><div class=\"small-12 medium-6 large-6 cell\"><\/p>\n<h3>Closing Night Celebration<\/h3>\n<p>Close the festival with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africanfilmfestival.org\/2026\/festival\/films\/hanami\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Hanami<\/em><\/strong>,<\/a> a visually poetic and emotionally resonant film from Cape Verde, directed by <strong>Denise Fernandes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Set on a remote volcanic island, the film follows Nana, a young girl searching for belonging after her mother\u2019s mysterious departure.
