This in-person only event will be held at the Hollywood Theatre.\u00a0 Please visit their website to learn more about <a href=\"https:\/\/hollywoodtheatre.org\/about\/covid-protocols\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hollywood&#8217;s COVID-19 protocols<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"centerpiece\">Centerpiece Weekend<\/h4>\n<p>Centerpiece Weekend takes place on February 17\u201318 featuring two very special films. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africanfilmfestival.org\/2023\/festival\/films\/juwaa\/\"><em>Juwaa<\/em><\/a> will <strong>screening in-person<\/strong> at Hollywood Theatre and <strong>online<\/strong> on Friday, February 17 at 7pm, which will be followed by a performance from local emcees. The second centerpiece film, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africanfilmfestival.org\/2023\/festival\/films\/neptune-frost\/\"><em>Neptune Frost<\/em><\/a> will be screening <strong>in-person only<\/strong> at Moriarty Auditorium\/PCC on February 18 at 7pm.\u00a0 Learn more about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcc.edu\/coronavirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PCC COVID-19 health and safety procedures.<\/a><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Family Fest<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>On Saturday, Feb 11th at 2pm please join the North Portland Library\u2019s Black Cultural Library Advocates after the film for a creative family activity.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.africanfilmfestival.org\/2023\/festival\/films\/the-boy-who-harnessed-the-wind\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> THE BOY WHO HARNESSED THE WIND<\/a> is based on real events, the film tells the story of William Kamkwamba, a 13-year-old boy living in a small village in Malawi who has a talent for fixing radios and making things out of electronic parts. The library will provide free copies of the book after the film and will co-host STEAM activities along with Jefferson High School students.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"documentary\">Life and Times Documentaries<\/h4>\n<p>This year\u2019s documentaries share personal stories of triumph, love, perseverance, and ingenuity. As you navigate our selected documentaries, you will learn about the unique perspectives of students in Central African Republic, a gay couple Kenya, an international superstar musician, and the daughter of Africa&#8217;s newest nation. Throughout these five films, we celebrate the resilience of African and Pan-African people and the ways we honor the personal journey.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"closing\">Closing Night Celebration<\/h4>\n<p>A special closing night of festivities, featuring Ghanaian director Nana Mensah&#8217;s film <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africanfilmfestival.org\/2023\/festival\/films\/queen-of-glory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Queen of Glory <\/em><\/a>with screening options both virtual and in-person.\u00a0 Women\u2019s Filmmakers Week Panel hosted by former CFAF Director Tracy Francis, concludes the annual festivities at 7 p.m. Mar. 4 at the Moriarty Auditorium. We will announce this year&#8217;s Audience Award winner based on <strong>your<\/strong> votes.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"directors\">After-film Q&amp;A sessions<\/h4>\n<p>Join us for live, online Q&amp;A sessions with film directors and other experts. The Q&amp;A&#8217;s will be after evening films on Thursdays through Saturdays throughout the festival.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All after-film discussions will be recorded and uploaded to our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCSNLjbr41DWt624BnM0sWZA\/videos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube channel<\/a> for later viewing if you miss one.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4 id=\"conversations\">Let&#8217;s Discuss! Community Conversations<\/h4>\n<p>Join us for casual conversations about the week\u2019s films through Zoom rooms. Also accessible by phone. Mondays at 7pm throughout the festival.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/portlandcc.zoom.us\/meeting\/register\/tJclcuyopzovG9Zd-c6YZmjRHHVg1L6PJqrp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Register to participate in Community Chats \u00bb<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"marketplace\">African In-Person and Virtual Marketplace and Restaurant Guide<\/h4>\n<p>Our in-person market place has returned!
