Partir?
Directed by Mary-Noël Niba
Cameroon
2019, 77 min
Partir? – “to leave or not?” – is a question that people living all over the global South often ask themselves. Veteran Cameroonian filmmaker, Mary-Noël Niba, ponders the lure that Europe has on the minds of so many people. She invites five immigrants, three from Cameroon and two from Senegal, to tell their stories. Most have had bitter, disillusioning experiences abroad. Smarter and wiser, they are happy to be back home, determined to rebuild their lives in their own countries. Only one of the five, a young Cameroonian rapper, remains in France, still dreaming of fame and fortune.
In French with English subtitles.
