CFAF Country Notes for Ivory Coast

This magnificent, epic-like drama is set in MACA, the largest correctional facility in Ivory Coast and the only prison in the world run by an inmate, Blackbeard, the Dangôro or inmate king, whose health and power are waning. He charges the new inmate Roman the task of telling a story throughout the night of the Red Moon until sunrise if he wants to save his life. In a griot role that recalls Scheherazade in One Thousand and One Nights, Roman spins a story filled with intrigue and magic about Zama King, a notorious gang leader whose life spanned from ancient times to the fall of Ivorian president Laurent Gbagbo.
In French and Dyula with English subtitles.
