Opening night is almost here!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Break out your favorite purple outfit and dancing shoes! <\/strong>This year we are thrilled to present the Portland\/Niger film collaboration <em><a href=\"http:\/\/africanfilmfestival.us9.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=29efa6b8018fbbe159aaf677e&amp;id=68c49af460&amp;e=e19bcf3004\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Akounak Tedalat Taha Tazoughai \/ Rain the Color Blue With a Little Red In It.<\/a> \u00a0<\/em>An homage to Prince&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Purple Rain<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Akounak<\/em>\u00a0takes us on a journey of a musician&#8217;s ups and downs in the guitar rock scene of Agadez, Niger,\u00a0and is the first film to be made in the Tuareg language. The film<strong>&#8216;<\/strong>s star, Mdou Moctar,\u00a0will be visiting us from Niger to do a talkback and special concert with\u00a0Christopher Kirkley, the film\u2019s director who hails from our very own city,\u00a0Portland, Oregon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Two screenings at <span class=\"aBn\"><span class=\"aQJ\">6:30 pm and 9:15 pm<\/span><\/span> with the concert at <span class=\"aBn\"><span class=\"aQJ\">11:15 pm<\/span><\/span> <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>at the Hollywood Theatre\u00a0(4122 NE Sandy Blvd.)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>(All events are first-come, first-served and space permitting)<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Break out your favorite purple outfit and dancing shoes!
