Break out your favorite purple outfit and dancing shoes! This year we are thrilled to present the Portland/Niger film collaboration Akounak Tedalat Taha Tazoughai / Rain the Color Blue With a Little Red In It. An homage to Prince’s Purple Rain, Akounak takes us on a journey of a musician’s ups and downs in the guitar rock scene of Agadez, Niger, and is the first film to be made in the Tuareg language. The film‘s star, Mdou Moctar, will be visiting us from Niger to do a talkback and special concert with Christopher Kirkley, the film’s director who hails from our very own city, Portland, Oregon.
