{"id":3178,"date":"2015-12-20T18:55:45","date_gmt":"2015-12-21T02:55:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/2016.africanfilmfestival.org\/?p=3178"},"modified":"2016-02-24T14:44:14","modified_gmt":"2016-02-24T22:44:14","slug":"les-petits-chats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africanfilmfestival.org\/2016\/les-petits-chats\/","title":{"rendered":"LES PETITS CHATS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Thursday Evening Documentary Films<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sherif Nakhla\u2019s documentary takes viewers back to Egypt\u2019s \u201cGolden Age\u201d of the 60s and 70s where crowds in the thousands danced the night away to legendary Egyptian cover band\u00a0<em>Les Petits Chats.<\/em>\u00a0Singing American and European hits to packed nightclubs and walking the streets like \u201cseven Elvises\u201d, band members navigate music and fame through wars, protests and a drastically shifting cultural and political landscape. Although they took different paths after the band\u2019s breakup in the 80s, in 2009 they were brought together for one final concert. Six members, all major celebrities and musicians now, play to a packed house of people nostalgic for better times and looking for an escape to the conditions of pre-revolution Egypt.
