His life is transformed when he meets the night watchman at the local newspaper whom he discovers is the charismatic magical \u201cMaestro.\u201d The night watchman not only teaches Obdulio to read and write but introduces him to the real meaning of life through the lyrics of the Murgas (a troupe of acting singers) during the Uruguayan Carnival. With a poetic nod to \u201cmagic realism\u201d and the films of Federico Fellini, Leonardo Ricagni uses the carnival atmosphere to create a magical world in which all things are possible.
