Hot Chili (Botswana)

Directed by Moabi Mogorosi

2003, 45 min.

In English and Setswana with English subtitles

Written, directed, and starring a young Botswanan who began working on the film while a student in the U.S., Hot Chili is a mythical tale of love that transcends social caste. A humble gardener is in love with the king's daughter, but the king will have none of it, for there are plenty of young nobles from whom to select his future son-in-law. To narrow the field, he decides on a competition involving young men and chili peppers. This first film from Botswana is a delightful tribute to the power of love - and of will power!

The producers of Hot Chili will be in attendance on February 18 to discuss the film and answer questions.
